用法
稱取本品 90.0g,加熱溶解于 1000ml 蒸餾水中,分裝三角瓶或試管,121℃高壓滅菌 15 分鐘,備用。
按其物理狀態可分為固體培養基、液體培養基和半固體培養基三類：
（1）固體培養基。是在培養基中加入凝固劑，有瓊脂、明膠、硅膠等。固體培養基常用于微生物分離、鑒定、計數和菌種保存等方面。
（2）液體培養基。液體培養基中不加任何凝固劑。這種培養基的成分均勻，微生物能充分接觸和利用培養基中的養料，適于作生理等研究，由于發酵率高，操作方便，也常用于發酵工業。
（3）半固體培養基。是在液體培養基中加入少量凝固劑而呈半固體狀態。可用于觀察細菌的運動、鑒定菌種和測定噬菌體的效價等方面。培養基按微生物的種類可分為細菌培養基、放線菌培養基、酵母菌培養基和霉菌培養基等四類。
特點：
（1）MS培養基 它是1962年由Murashige和Skoog為培養煙草細胞而設計的。特點是無機鹽和離子濃度較高，為較穩定的平衡溶液。其養分的數量和比例較合適，可滿足植物的營養和生理需要。它的硝酸鹽含量較其他培養基為高，廣泛地用于植物的器官、花藥、細胞和原生質體培養，效果良好。有些培養基是由它演變而來的。
（2）B5培養基 是1968年由Gamborg等為培養大豆根細胞而設計的。其主要特點是含有較低的銨，這可能對不少培養物的生長有抑制作用。從實踐得知有些植物在B5培養基上生長更適宜，如雙子葉植物特別是木本植物。
（3）White培養基 是1943年由White為培養番茄根尖而設計的。1963年又作了改良，稱作White改良培養基，提高了MgSO4的濃度和增加了鵬素。其特點是無機鹽數量較低，適于生根培養。
（4）N6培養基 是1974年朱至清等為水稻等禾谷類作物花藥培養而設計的。其特點是成分較簡單，KNO3和（NH4）2SO4含量高。在國內已廣泛應用于小麥、水稻及其他植物的花藥培養和其他組織培養。
（5）KM-80培養基 它是1974年為原生質體培養而設計的。其特點是有機成分較復雜，它包括了所有的單糖和維生素，廣泛用于原生質融合的培養。
